Safe password

Nowadays with the growth of technologies, security must grow along with it, because the amount of spyware and malware is increasing. Unfortunately, password systems have not been updated for 15 years already.

So as a result the password protection is one of the main problems of Internet security. Password protection provides several ways to enhance password security.

One of the variants is shadow password. It is a system of password protection. Passwords in it written in plain text file. This file is available only for rood, and others users can not reach the file.

Other way and maybe the best is generation of "secure" passwords. This helps to protect your personal data and to improve security of information.

Other actions are required from servers that provide you those services. It should require to your password every month or every 80 days. They choose the time intervals. And also if it's a really safe server it will not allow you to use a password that you have already used some time ago.

There are some ways how you can improve security of your password.

First of all never take words from dictionary or a word that is from your personal information. If this word isn't modified it is easy guessable. It may be even written in some little known language and still it would be easy crackable password. A good password should be easy to remember but it must never be easy to guess. Try to make your password as random as possible. For example, you think of some sentence or know phrase of 5-10 words. Take every first letter of the words and combine yourself a password. You can also involve some numbers.

Here's a good password creation method. Let's say that you like blue colour and you're born in 1983. Write number in another way like 3891 and mix with the word- b3l8u9e1. Here you're a nice and safe password.

Remember that there are some thing that you never should do while generating a safe password:

  • Do not use the same word for username and password.
  • Your password should be a mixture of letters, number and punctuation characters if it's possible.
  • Never choose a word that is known to be the name of any real or fictional character in any book, movie, play, comic book, or musical work. Never choose popular words.
  • Your password has to be at least 6-8 characters length.
  • Never use names of your family members or personal information.
  • Don't use words written in reverse order if they aren't more modified.
  • Don't use the same combination of letters and number when you change your password and do not use the same password several times.
  • Do not change passwords too frequently, because you might get confused or forget it.
  • And of course don't tell anyone your password. It's better to store your password in encrypted file.

Note also that passwords are case-sensitive. Always check if you're using upper case or lower case characters when you change your password or create new.

There's even a software at your services. It is called Password Keeper. It will help you to keep safe your passwords and not to forget them. All information is held in encrypted format and is safe from unauthorized users. This software can even help you to protect yourself from carding.
