Rating:
PortsLock integrates with the Windows user authentication system and once installed, administrators are able to set permissions to TCP/IP connections, in the same way as managing permissions on an NTFS partition of a hard disk. PortsLock allows you to control which users can access what TCP/IP based protocols (HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, Telnet and etc.) on a local computer and on what time. You can also block or allow TCP/UDP ports and IP addresses for all outgoing or incoming connections. PostsLock is clearly understandable and only Windows users are allowed to create rules. Administrators that know IPSec, can think of this as a user-specific IPSec configuration, where user A can be allowed access to the web during business hours, but denied FTP traffic and user B can only access sites within the corporate network etc. Such features as optional traffic auditing (per user setting), automatic deployment to remove machines and remote access are included. PortsLock requires good knowledge of TCP/IP networking and is built for network administrators mostly.
